Rhythm Zoo are rapidly gaining a solid reputation within the UK blues music scene.  The band formed three years ago  and has been described as one of the fastest rising blues  bands in the UK and as their reputation continues to grow, 2011 has seen the band booked for many of the UK’s blues festivals including Maryport,  Limetree, The Great British Rhythm & Blues, Swanage and headlining at Orkney Blues Festival  in September .

The Zoo have also been playing lots of blues clubs around the UK including The Maltings in  Surrey, Legends Blues Club in Tamworth, The Famous Monday Blues Club  in Oxford and BJ’s Blues Club in Chorley, Lancs.

Never bound by any one style, Rhythm Zoo pride themselves on their originality , with a great blend of originals and standards.  The band’s recently released new EP, features original material, including the title track ‘Crazy Kitten Blues’, which has received a considerable amount of air time from the digital blues stations.  Indeed on his Digital Blues show on Gateway fm,  Ashwyn Smyth tipped the band as ‘one to watch’ in 2011

Rhythm Zoo in it’s current line up includes Andrea (Andi) Jones on lead vocals, Carl Smith (Smithy) on lead guitar, Dermot (Animal) Hall on drums and Dave (Gadget)Wilmore on bass and John (The Man) Sanderson on sax and flute

Here are just some of the things being said about Rhythm Zoo…

‘Blues that melts the heart.  Rhythm Zoo are a band destined to become big on the blues circuit’   True Blues Club, Earlstown

‘You and the guys know how to do it’  Connie Lush

Rarely has a band impressed me with such a memorable debut performance at BJ’s, enhanced by a female vocalist who exuded warmth, charm and a natural ability to completely envelop and absorb an audience within the pathos of their music.  Rhythm Zoo delivered a great musical vibration that was way off the Richter Scale!  Lucas Campbell, BJ’s Blues Club, Chorley, Lancs

‘Smooth, rich, soulful  blues. By now, my jaw has dropped so far I need reconstructive surgery..’   TFI Music

About

Orkney Blues was established in 2006 to develop and maintain a first class Blues Festival in the Orkney Islands. The committee is made up of local artists and blues enthusiasts and is supported by local businesses.

Orkney Blues has grown since then and we look forward to our biggest festival yet in 2011.
