*Family And Friends
We will not under any circumstances pay travel subsistence or accommodation costs for family or friends travelling with Artiste/s. We can however negotiate with local accommodation providers who may, at their discretion offer reduced rates for additional persons travelling with the artistes. Accommodation providers will require a valid bank card number from these persons.
Travel
The Orkney Blues Festival Committee will pay for the return ferry costs of all bona fide band members plus one vehicle. We expect all artistes to travel by road to the ferry port at Scrabster. (see map) Artistes should board the ferry with one vehicle only. Should a second vehicle be required, this must be negotiated with Orkney Blues Committee or paid for by the visiting artistes.
You will receive a Northlink number from the Orkney Blues Weekend committee prior to commencing your journey to Scrabster. You should quote this number when you check in at the ferry port and you will then be issued with the relevant boarding passes.
Please Note:
All passengers aged 16 years and over are required to be in possession of photographic ID at the ferry check-in. Examples of acceptable ID include: photo driving licence, passport, student ID card and concessionary cards.
The crossing time between Scrabster & Orkney is approximately 90 minutes. Meals and drinks can be purchased on board the ferry.
There is an alternative ferry route from Aberdeen to Orkney. We may under certain circumstances allow artistes to travel by that route. The ferry from Aberdeen departs at 5.00pm on a Thursday and the journey time is approximately 6 hours. The ferry leaves Orkney again on the Monday evening at 12.00am and journey time back to Aberdeen is around 7 hours. However, this route can prove problematic should bad weather occur and we advise artistes to take the Scrabster route.
Further details of ferry times can be found here: http://www.northlinkferries.co.uk/timetables.html
